    Description
69.8 Gram 1911 Antique Towle American Sterling Napkin Ring
Before bidding starts, we welcome offers on this napkin ring. After the first bid, we are not able to accept offers.
There are two cartouches on this 1911 sterling napkin ring. This napkin ring was engraved as a gift for "Rev. Moldstad"; the second cartouche has the initials of the givers and the year 1911. The cartouches are set off by etched designs; the napkin ring has handsome applied borders. It is 2 inches in diameter and 1 inch wide. Our research has shown that the name is Norwegian in origin and that the pastor of St. Mark's Church in Chicago (Tripp and Wabansia Avenues) in 1911 was J. A. Moldstad. The napkin ring was made by Towle and has their mark on the inside, along with the word "sterling" and a pattern number, "8771". The napkin ring is very heavy indeed- weighing in at 69.8 grams (2.82 ounces)-nearly 3 times the weight of the average sterling napkin ring at 1 ounce or less.
