Alaska Public Safety Officer Police Patch - Village PSO

$ 1.58

Availability: 100 in stock

Description

This is an older patch for the
Alaska
state Public Safety Officer, more commonly known as Village Public Safety Officers.
From the Alaska DPS website “The Village Public Safety Officer (VPSO) program, conceived of in 1979 is funded by the State of
Alaska
through the Department of Public Safety (DPS), and provides rural Alaskan communities with needed public safety support services. The VPSO program was developed in response to the unique nature of public safety concerns in remote, rural
Alaska
, and over the past 40 years, the presence of a VPSO in a community can have a significant positive impact on improving the quality of life in the participating villages.”
Although the Alaska State Troopers provide statewide law enforcement, the relatively small size of their agency precludes extensive local service.  The Public Safety Officers are the backbone of daily safety services to the remote villages of the state.
They attend an academy and are fully trained public safety officers.  As the primary first responders they receive specialized training in SAR (Search & Rescue),
EMT
(Emergency Medical Technicians) and Fire Fighting.  All of these qualifications appear on this patch.
I believe this patch may be a uniform take-off although it is in very good condition.  No rubs, wear marks, or other issues with this patch.  It will display very nicely. I will charge only towards packing and first class shipping and will absorb any domestic postage over that.  Ships to
U.S.
only.
Size:  Just under 5" high x 3" wide
Note:  This item conveys no law enforcement authority and is sold for collectible purposes only.  It is not a badge.  Please ask any questions before bidding as refunds are not offered.  Thanks for looking and good luck!
