Antique Belle Epoque era French sterling silver napkin ring. Richly decorated in raised relief with Art Nouveau style thistle flowers and foliage. Finely hand engraved with the name ‘Alphonsine’. In very good condition with general wear. Hallmarked with the French Minerve 1st standard mark, which guaranteed the finest quality French sterling silver of .950/1000 purity in use from 1838 (95% pure silver and higher grade than the standard .925 for sterling). Bearing maker’s marks for silversmith Gabert & Conreau, active from 1901 to 1906 at 24 rue Beaubourg in Paris. Measures 2” diameter x 1 3/8” height. Weighs 43.9 grams
