his exquisite antique French sterling silver napkin ring is magnificently designed in a pattern of chrysanthemums, the favorite flower of the
Art Nouveau
period in France as well as during the
Belle Époque
, when all things Japanese were in vogue. It is monogrammed with the engraved and interlaced initials “J” and “L”. This napkin ring bears the French “
Minerve
” hallmark or “
Minerve
Premier
Titre
”, indicating the highest quality of French sterling silver (950/1000), used in Paris since 1838. The
Minerve
Premier
Titre
is the guarantee that the sterling is at least 95% silver. It also bears the maker’s mark of
Jules-Alfred
Tranchant
, master silversmith, located in the
rue du Temple
in Paris between 1881 and 1920. The maker’s mark consists of the initials “A” and “T” surrounding the image of a bee. This napkin ring is in very good condition with the exception of faint scratches due to normal use. This lovely piece will be a prestigious addition to your collection.
