Description
Adorable HTF Antique English Child's Stick Sponged China Tea Set-1800sWe're pleased to offer for your consideration this fabulous antique child's stick spatter/sponged tea set. It was made in Staffordshire, England, circa 1890, and is attributed to
Charles Allerton & Sons
. The charming set consists of a teapot with lid, a sugar bowl with lid, and a creamer. These pieces were hand painted with brown and blue, using a stick or sponge. They are marked "Staffordshire-England". Size of the creamer is 3" tall, and 2½" across the top from the spout. Size of the sugar bowl with the lid is 4½" tall. Size of the teapot with the lid on is 5" tall.
Condition of the set is remarkably good for being well over 100 years old!
There is a glazed-over "dip" in the upper rim of the teapot on one side, with a very small rough spot that doesn't affect stability or the beauty of the piece. There are no cracks. The creamer has no chips or cracks. The sugar bowl has a small tight line at the bottom of one handle. This is stable. There are no chips or other issues on the piece. This came from a country estate auction near Richmond, VA.
This is just a fabulous little set, and would make a great addition to any antique child's tea set collection!
