Description
: Hard to find colorware version in gray and white dual-tone, c.1951. Unsigned.
This design Is highly reminiscent of Russel Wright for Iroquois China, Steubenville, and especially his teapot for Yamato China (Japan). The oversized loop strap handle is found on many of his wares, including his spun aluminum pieces. Russel Wright designed for Harker the "White Clover" pattern also in the year 1951. Did he have a hand in this contemporary Harker teapot design? If not, the designer was certainly inspired by Russel Wright. Nonetheless, this is a great looking teapot!
Condition
: teapot looks unused however does have an old lid repair. The lid is repaired, and whoever did the repair did a pretty good job. The teapot itself is very clean inside and out, no stains on the inside and very little wear to be found on the base. The base has the typical three kiln support marks (trivet type).
