The autograph clip was cut from a larger letter completely handwritten by Jefferson Davis in 1886 (see our uploaded photos of the large letter, which we did for reference purposes). We, the current sellers, personally cut the offered autograph clip from the body of the larger letter/document. L

The letter/document was purchased by the current sellers in 2020 from Jeffrey S. Evans & Associates, a well-known U.S. auction house.
