Description

Set of eleven vintage (pre-1930) Japanese 950 sterling silver place card holders designed for use in seating at formal dinners.
Each holder has a fold-out stand in back to keep it upright and to support the name card which is placed into the top.
All eleven are uniquely designed and include the following motifs: folding fan decorated with bamboo, rickshaw, thatched hut, stone garden lantern, medieval castle, "kabuto" (samurai battle helmet), tori-i gate (which marks the entrance to a Shinto shrine), two ships (one The Ship of Good Fortune carrying treasures), good luck cat, and pagoda (a symbol of Buddhism).
Each silver holder measures about 1" - 1 1/4" in height and width. The back of each piece is marked "STERLING 950."
