Description
It's my pleasure to offer at auction a seldom offered and rather Nice CIRCA 1956 J.A. COXE (Bronson) No.140 "SWEETWATER" TAKE-APART CASTING TRADE REEL BUILT FOR TRUE TEMPER CORP. These scarce trade models were built during the mid 1950's by J.A. Coxe, a division of Bronson Reel Co. and were supplied exclusively for sale through True Temper Corp. Except for the True Temper branding, they were identical to J.A. Coxe's No.30-C model from their regular lineup. The only reference I've been able to find for this model comes from the 1956 True Temper catalog (which I've add a photo of). It was True Temper's highest-grade casting reel that year. Face plate is stamped "TRUE TEMPER Sweetwater 140"
, while under the foot reads "PAT. APP. FOR MADE IN U.S.A.". Made with anodized aluminum body and comes equipped with strong clicker, smooth level-wind, strong anti-backlash control switch, a lightweight aluminum spool & crank handle, dual plastic handle grips and a "Cross-Bolt" construction take-apart feature that allows the reel to be disassembled for servicing by simply unscrewing the center bolt on the tail plate by hand. Reel is in Very Good+ to Fine condition for these, showing light to moderate wear. Displays beautifully. Works perfectly and is very smooth-running. A nice example of these seldom seen trade models from Bronson/Coxe/True Temper. To be sold with a very low starting bid and NO RESERVE. Buyer to pay .90 shipping via U.S. Priority Mail, with full insurance and tracking. Payment must be received within 3 days of auction closure. Thanks for your time and good luck.
