Signed Auto Cut John Quincy Adams & the Great Triumverate PSA/DNA NM-MT 8

This listing is for an autographed page signed by some of the greatest and most important members of early 19th century American politics. It is PSA/DNA authenticated, the signature qualities are also graded, and it is encapsulated to ensure its protection.
The first signature is that of John Quincy Adams, sixth president of the United States. This signature carries the inscription “Washington, 1839,” meaning it was signed after Adams’ presidency, when he was serving as a member of Congress in pursuit of abolition.
The page is also signed by all three members of the Great Triumverate (also known as the Immortal Trio). They are John C. Calhoun of South Carolina, Henry Clay of Kentucky, and Daniel Webster of Massachusetts.
These men dominated the Second Party System and essentially played a role in every major American political event from the Aaron Burr treason trial to the Compromise of 1850.
John Quincy Adams was, of course, the son of Founding Father John Adams. He went on to become the country's 6th President (1825-1829) in addition to holding offices as Secretary of State (for Monroe, for whom he authored the Monroe Doctrine in 1823), Senator from Massachusetts, as well has holding various foreign minister positions. John Quincy Adams is also the only U.S. President to return to elected office after his presidency as he served in the U.S. House of Representatives from 1831 to 1848. He was a proud member of the anti-slavery movement and suffered his fatal cerebral hemorrhage while rising in the House to answer a question in opposition to the Mexican-American War.
John C. Calhoun was a Yale educated attorney who held the offices of Vice President (under both John Quincy Adams and Andrew Jackson), Secretary of State (under Tyler and Polk), Secretary of War (Monroe), and Senator from South Carolina. Largely independent, he was known as a proponent of state's rights, limited government, nullification, and opposition to high tariffs.
Henry Clay was the Secretary of State for John Quincy Adams, but he is better known as a Congressman and Senator from Kentucky, as well as a three-time Speaker of the House. He was a tremendous opponent of Andrew Jackson, a huge influence upon Abraham Lincoln, the architect of the American System, an opponent of slavery, and was known as the Great Compromiser for his leadership with regard to the Compromise of 1820 (Missouri Compromise) as well as the Compromise of 1850.
Daniel Webster was the Secretary of State for Presidents Fillmore, William Henry Harrison, and Tyler. He also served as a Congressman and Senator from Massachusetts. He argued more than 200 cases before the Supreme Court, was a strong Federalist, and is credited with having authored several of John Marshall's judicial decisions. After Webster's death, Ralph Waldo Emerson wrote of him that he was "the completest man", and that "nature had not in our days, or not since Napoleon, cut out such a masterpiece." More than a century later, John F. Kennedy included Webster in his Profiles of Courage for Webster's support of the Compromise of 1850.
Interestingly, PSA decided to label these autographs as "M. Van Buren's Admin." but none of these great men were in Van Buren's inner circle or even significantly supported him. Instead, they acted on their own ideals and did a tremendous amount to shape the United States in the early 19th century.
These four signatures would each be key signatures for any collectors of U.S. political items, and here they exist (perhaps uniquely) on a single piece of paper. (Just think - these four great men each held this item!)
The signature page is authenticated and encapsulated by PSA/DNA, the industry leader, so authenticity is absolute. Further, PSA has greater the signatures a high rating of NM-MT 8.
