Description
This is an elegant 8-piece cake set made in America by the Harker Pottery Company. The Harker Pottery Company was founded in 1840 by Benjamin Harker, Sr. in East Liverpool, Ohio and produced many types of earthenware including dinnerware.
Contained in its original box (minus lid), this set contains the following:
(1) 10” cake plate; (1) 9 ¼” cake server; (6) 6 ¼” dessert plates.
Each piece of this entertainment set features a Godey print pattern, 22 kt. gold trim and the plates feature a fancy gadroon, or rope design, along the rims.
With the exception of the cake server every piece is marked with the Harker Pottery Company ‘bow and arrow’ gold backstamp.
The box is also marked with the following wording, “Earthenware – 6510 – Handle With Care – 8 Pc. Gadroon Cake Set”.
This set has been well-preserved and appears to have been used sparingly.
All plates display crazing and there are two small scratches on one dessert plate and another small plate appears to have a chip along the gold rim.
Despite these minor flaws this vintage cake set is in very good condition and would add elegance and charm to any special occasion.
