Description

An advertising postcard of “The Wawona Tree, Yosemite National Park, California.” A couple poses by their car just before driving through the famous tunnel. On the back is a blurb that begins: “We are seeing all the sights traveling with a Conoco TOURAIDE.” Not mailed or written on. A piece of "cellophane" tape goes around one edge of the card. (See scans of front and back.)
BACKGROUND: The name Conoco can refer to either a major American brand of oil and gas filling stations that is currently owned by Phillips 66 Co. or to "Conoco Inc.", a defunct oil and gas company that had operated from 1875 until 2002, when it merged with the Phillips Petroleum Company 66 to form ConocoPhillips.
